As part of the “Research Explorer Ruhr”, international postdocs have the opportunity to network for two weeks and develop strategies for their research careers at the UA Ruhr.
Over the next two weeks, international postdocs will network as part of the "Research Explorer Ruhr" and jointly develop strategies for pursuing their research careers in the UA Ruhr. The program is offered by the Research Academy Ruhr.

21 international researchers from 17 countries will explore the knowledge metropolis Ruhr and take part in workshops that will provide them with valuable knowledge on career development. The participants are supervised by professors from the universities of the UA Ruhr and also get to know the respective working groups and the research environment. The program also serves as concrete preparation for returning to the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) or TU Dortmund University (TU Do) for a longer research stay as a postdoc by means of funding.

Two special highlights of the program are the "Tour de Ruhr" on 23 June and the Global Young Faculty Event on 24 June at RUB. The Research Academy Ruhr invites all advanced doctoral candidates and postdocs with an interest in international research experience to this event. UA Ruhr Professor Dr. Alexander Probst from the Research Center One Health Ruhr, who conducted research at the University of Berkeley for several years, will give a keynote speech on "International research experience as a career strategy".

He will then discuss the importance of international experience for scientists (careers) with Prof. Dr. Marie Hennecke (RUB, Psychology), Jun.-Prof. Vahid Farrahi, Ph.D (TU Do, Sports Sciences) and Dr. Fatemeh Mamashli (RUB, Medicine).

The "Tour de Ruhr" excursion in cooperation with Ruhr Tourismus GmbH gives participants an understanding of the Ruhr region as a research and science location, but also as a culturally exciting and liveable area. Stops such as the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen, the Gasometer in Oberhausen and the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park provide a comprehensive insight into the history and special flair of the region.
