The universities united in the University Alliance Ruhr offer female academics the best opportunities to develop their individual careers.
Our Mission
The UA Ruhr, that is the three central Equal Opportunities Officers of the partner universities work together to promote gender equality and counteract unequal treatment.
- Together, they ensure that the gender benchmarks are adhered to and updated.
- Within the alliance, they offer an annual training course on conducting gender-equitable appointment procedures, which is aimed in particular at professors.
- They regularly hold workshops for all the other equal opportunities officers at the three universities, for example on anti-discrimination in the university context.
Our Successes
Over the past ten years, the number and proportion of female PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and professors in all research and teaching areas at the universities has risen sharply - a visible sign of successful gender equality policies in the UA Ruhr.
The universities of the UA Ruhr have received several awards for the successful implementation of their gender equality strategies as promoted by the German Research Foundation and the female professors program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Mentoring³
The Research Academy Ruhr has been offering the so-called mentoring³ program for more than ten years. Mentoring³ was the first jointly managed program for female scientists in Germany.
Gender Research
Gender research established in the UA Ruhr offers a broad scientific basis for the development of equal opportunities and the reflection of social structures and processes from a gender perspective.
