Diversity
The University Alliance Ruhr is committed to a university and research landscape that reflects diversity and equality.
Joint Diversity Strategy
The partner universities of the UA Ruhr have formulated a joint diversity strategy. In it, they commit to making the research landscapes more diverse and therefore more attractive, expanding diversity and gender research and strengthening cooperation in the area of diversity policy between the partners.
Central Fields of Action
Making the Research Environment More Diverse
The three UA Ruhr universities are focusing on making the research structures and cultures of the UA Ruhr more attractive for international and early career researchers. They strive to improve the composition of research groups from a diversity perspective and to create a research environment free of discrimination and prejudice. They also aim to promote the independence and international mobility of early career researchers.
Promoting Diversity and Gender Research
The three UA Ruhr universities are striving to work more closely together with regard to research on diversity and gender and to promote diversity and gender research in disciplines where such perspectives are currently lacking.
- Current fields of cooperation are gender and diversity in medicine, engineering, computer science and natural science research directly related to humans.
- The platform „Gender Research in the University Alliance Ruhr“ (GEFOR) provides an overview of joint research, teaching and transfer in the field of gender research.
Strengthening Cooperation in Diversity Policy
All three UA Ruhr universities have provided resources for the promotion of diversity and anti-discrimination and are already implementing innovative diversity policy measures. The UA Ruhr intends to coordinate these even more closely, learn from each other and initiate joint measures.
